Dan Kesterke is a band director, percussionist, and music educator from Adrian, MI. In July 2018, Dan began his next chapter in music education becoming the Director of Bands at Siena Heights University in Adrian, MI. Dan previously taught instrumental music at Adrian Public Schools from 2008-2018 and Addison Community Schools from 2003-2008. In 2013, Dan was honored with the Adrian School's Education Foundation Teacher of the Year.
Dan is a member of FLOWERS ON THE GRAVE and performs as a percussion section member for the Adrian Symphony Orchestra. He also performs locally with a jazz combo named, "Triplicity," comprised of other department of music faculty at Siena Heights. Dan’s recent projects are broad in musical scope and range from drum set performance to conducting young band and professional ensembles. He has conducted several musicals as pit conductor at Adrian High School and can be found here: Dan is one of the first call percussion educators in Lenawee County. He regularly teaches percussion lessons ranging from middle and high school students to collegiate and adult learners. Dan consults with band directors on percussion purchases and instrument maintenance and tuning. All of the percussion equipment at Adrian High School, Addison High School, and Siena Heights University were purchased with input from Dan. Dan is in constant musical motion in Lenawee County and is working to build local talent to fuel the music scene in southeastern Michigan. Between teaching and educating the largest collegiate band program in the area to developing his own percussion artistry, Dan strives to perform and educate all students who are ready and willing to learn. Dan is blessed by his wife, Jean, and two boys: Ian and Rowan. |
